One has to travel a distance of about
10 km from Margao for reaching this place, which exhibits glimpses
of Goan history in an area extended up to 9 acres of the land. This
idea of constructing a Goan village which was in existence about 100
years ago & was generated in the mind of famous Goan artists Maendra
Jocelino Alvares and he decided to use inherent property to provide
tourists an opportunity of living with glorious past of Goa in most
authentic form.
This was all the way a process of untiring handwork, implementing
visionary planning and truly meticulous research to complete this
project designed and dedicated towards the perseverance of rich Goan
Culture, custom and traditions of the centuries. Since the April
1995 this project is open for the public and gives tourists an
option of visiting an interesting site other than beaches of Goa.
You can't learn and understand history of Goa, without visiting
Ancestral Goa, thus for the educationist, chronologist, scholars,
researchers and students on Goa tour, Ancestral Goa is a must place
destination. |
