Church of Our Lady of Rosary, is the oldest of Goa church, surviving the ages. Situated at the Monte Santo [Holy Hill] on the western side, Church of our Lady of rosary was constructed at the site where Bijapur Sultan was defeated by Portuguese leader Alfonso de Albuquerque in the year 1510.
Church of Our Lady of Rosary is one of the fine illustration of Manueline style architecture of the early Portuguese though the impression of the Gothic style is quite clearly visible. Construction work of church was started in the year 1544 and took almost six years to complete.
The church was taken care by and the place where St. Francis Xavier was used to teach people about the Christianity in very simple method of question and answer [Catechism]. Church of our Lady of the Rosary in Goa has two chapels and three altars, main altar of the Lady of Rosary church bears the image of Our Lady of the Rosary [Nossa Senhora de Rozario] . Views of Mandovi river and Divar Island from the hill top are true feast for the eyes.

The road going slightly uphill south of the Basilica de Bom Jesus takes visitors to the Church of Our Lady of Rosary, located in Old Goa at road distance of about 10 km from the Panaji city. Panjim city is easily accessible on road journey and air travel, for the local transportation there is highly effective network of buses, hiring a taxi is another option tourist have.

Probably this is only church in Goa where Hindu influence is visible in the decoration of the church.
