About Celebration of Ganesha Festival

Ganesha festival is one of the most celebrated Hindu festival of Goa India. Celebration starts with Ganesha Chaturthi [also pronounced as Vinayak Chaturthi] with the establishment of clay idol of Lord at house or public place and after the worship of ten days and regular morning & evening aarti [prayer] ends on Anant Chaturthi, when Idols were taken to nearby river, in procession with traditional music and dance for the visarjan in water. During this procession atmosphere gets filled with "Ganapati Bappa Moriya - Pudcha Varsi Lovakar yiya".
Being located close to Kolhapur, Maharashtra city with great tradition of Ganesha festival celebration, Goa also gets new heights and horizons of celebrating this Hindu festival with fun, enthusiasm, entertainment and devotion

 
Myth of Ganesha Chaturthi

According to Hindu history Lord Ganesha is fond of eating "Ladoos" and on the birthday goes to house of devotees for the eating Ladoos. On one such occasion while returning to home his vehicle mouse stumbled because of suddenly appearing snake. Ganesha felt down, his stomach burst open and all the Ladoos come out.

Ganesha resettled all in proper way but the moon observing all this from the night sky could not control his smile, which made Lord Ganesha angry. In this anger Lord Ganesha cursed that anybody who stair at moon on Ganesh Chaturthi day will have to face false blame of robbery.
