Lord Saptakoteshwar, incarnation of Lord Shiva was the favorite deity of Kadamba Kings. During the Mogul rule, idol was buried. When the idol was rediscovered a temple was constructed on Divar Island, which was destroyed by the Portuguese and Hindus were forced to move idol to Narve. Sometimes around 1688, great Maratha King Shivaji ordered for renovation of Saptakoteshwar temple. In the present times this temple with Shiv Linga [Dharalinga] is hot favorite among the Shavaite Worshippers from all parts of world.

Local buses are also plying for Bicholim from Panaji and Mapusa.
