Shree Shantadurga is the prime deity of Goan people and most worshipped Goddess on this coastal Indian land. In the spiritual life of Goa, Goddess Shantadurga is at the same place of Goddess Durga in west Bengal and Calcutta region. Goddess Shantadurga is considered as the Goddess of peace as according to Hindu Puranas, Shree Shantadurga mediated and resolved successfully conflict between between Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.
At the most of villages and cities of Goa there are temples dedicated to Shree Shantadurga as Goddess is worshiped by all the Goan people including Christians. In the various parts of Goa, Shree Shantadurga is worshiped with many names such as Thamai,
Sateri, Bhumka, Adimaya and others. During the Zatra of Shantadurga, held annually On the day of Pausha Shuddha Navami [December - January].
There are numerous temples of Shantadurga in Goa, some of the most prominent temples of Shree Shantadurga are

Here Goddess is known as Shantadurga Kukalienkarin because idol was moved here from original temple at Cuncolim. Panch Dhatu [Five Metal] one foot high idol of Goddess Shantadurga is holding Shield and Tirshul.

This 1728 constructed temple is located at foothill of Kavlem. Quite big temple complex has a water tank and fabulous deep Stambha [Lamp tower]. The temple was constructed by Grandson of great Maratha King Shri Naro Ram Mantri, who was minister of King Shahu of Satara. Temple has unique idol of Goddess Shantadurga as image here is flanked on either side by Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

Probably this is the oldest temple of Shantadurga, constructed in the year 1550, and among the few Hindu temples in Bardez which survived the Portuguese Inquisition. Temple is situated at Dhargal in the Pernem taluka just 14 km away from the commercial city Mapusa. Celebrations of Shantadurga zatra starts at this temple, deity is taken out in colorful procession.

Calangute, Mangueshi, Karmali, Nagueshi, Velinga, Ramnathi, Mapusam, Madki, Mala-Panaji, Kundai, Mashel, Shiroda, Amona, Khandepar, Borim, Mulgaon and Kapileshwari are the some of other villages and cities of Goa, having a temple dedicated to Goddess Shantadurga.
